The Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA) has applauded and welcomed and work work done by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) to improve road access for cranes, by bringing Local Council Authorities onto the gazetted network map scheme.

Damien Hense, Road Safety Liaison Officer at CICA says “NHVR have come alongside Local Government Road Managers, to improve their awareness of the marginal impact modern cranes have on roading”.

As a result, 32 Local Governments have made the transition to the pre-approved network maps – a move that is streamlining road access approvals and improving productivity.

“32 Local Government’s is no mean feat and deserves recognition and commendation”, stated Brandon Hitch, CICA CEO, “NHVR have been working hard to make this happen, but we are also looking forward to bringing the remaining 100 Local Government’s on board, and we appreciate NHVR’s commitment to making this happen.”
